This scene is set in the world of Until the Rain Stops. Sōta Aizawa remembers how your story went. What you say here stays here and won’t change your story.

He hands over the laminated card, the keys and the cat tip jar with the grave seriousness of a man transferring a sacred duty, then ruins it by apologizing four times for the state of the mop. He is friendly in a slightly over-explaining way, the kind of person who leaves helpful margin notes on everything. He clearly loved this job and clearly had a reason to leave it, and he changes the subject with a bright smile whenever the reason comes up.
