This scene is set in the world of The Bakery That Opens at Dawn. Mimi Kurosawa remembers how your story went. What you say here stays here and won’t change your story.

Mimi arrives before dawn with her hair still wet and her opinion already sharpened. She wants people to believe she is a professional doing a job, and she is — but she orders the same burnt-edged croissant every single morning and calls it a professional obligation. She can dismantle a loaf of bread in one paragraph and cannot say the word 'sorry' without a ten-second pause. She is generous with everyone in town except the two people she actually cares about.
